THE IMPORTANCE OF FIT

The right cut can make a world of difference, and tailors with years of experience know how to navigate the nuances of different body types…

It is an established fact that the suit is the ultimate statement

in the sartorial dress code

A bespoke suit will elevate your appearance by creating a perfect harmony between comfort and style. Sadly, a very expensive suit bought “off the rack” will simply look crap if it doesn’t fit well. A bespoke suit, cut for an individual, will always stand out from the imitations. When you break down the basics of bespoke tailors – cloth, cut and construction – the part that has the most effect on appearance is “cut”. The suit is cut accurately for the body, after careful manoeuvring and studying for any fitting issues. A good bespoke suit will correct those problem areas in addition to accentuating the best features.

In reality, you don’t often see the “perfect” body. Most people will have one or two (sometimes more) quirks which require careful engineering to mitigate them. Someone might have one prominent shoulder blade which would require some stretching of the back panel. One shoulder may need extra padding to level it up. Extra fullness is added to trousers where someone has very muscular “glutes.”

These are the little nuances of bespoke tailoring that you just can’t quite capture off the rack.

In the process of achieving an excellent fit, there is a desire to make the suit as beautiful as possible. Thirty years of tailoring experience fitting so many body types is a good place to start when deciding what is needed to achieve the best outcome. The fitting process is comprehensive to ensure nothing is overlooked when crafting a bespoke piece. It starts with the baste fitting, where the suit starts to take shape. This then moves into a more advanced fitting where refinements and adjustments are made. Sometimes just half an inch is moved in the jacket length for the final fit, but you know it is perfect.  This process allows you to look carefully from every angle, to ensure everything comes together harmoniously.

Bespoke suits are all about personalization and craftsmanship.

The right cut can make a world of difference, and tailors with years of experience know how to navigate the nuances of different body types. So, when you're after a suit that truly fits like a glove, bespoke tailoring is the way to go. It's not about extravagance; it's about looking and feeling your best.
